1915 Gallipoli ' Trench Map '.

Highly evocative, 1:20,000 scale map of the Gallipoli peninsula. Produced by the Army Survey Dept. and printed in Egypt in 1915 with the heading ' Anafarta Sagir '. The map shows the area of Suvla Bay , north to Kartal Tepe and has numerous pencil annotations anglicising the various Turkish names. There are other annotations denoting MG positions, bearings and lines of marches ? The map is in good condition but does bear some ominous staining to the outer face which in some cases has come through.
Contemporary maps of this region are exceedingly scarce and with the annotations and staining of this map make an evocative souvenir of the ill-fated Dardanelles campaign.
