Grouping from the affects of Lt. Col. David Lambert Paxton Danger MM, MBE. Danger was notable for being an original member of ' L Detachment ' the forerunner of the SAS and went on to serve as Paddy Mayne's personal signaller. Danger joined the Royal Signals in 1941, lying about his danger he went on to serve in North Africa under David Stirling and then with Paddy Mayne in Sicily, Italy and then France and Western Europe. He was awarded the MM for his part in Operation Kipling in Central France, the recommendation being signed by Mayne. Turning down a commission in order to continue to serve with Mayne he served with 1 SAS on Operations Kipling, Howard and Houndsworth. Following the War he served with the Parachute Regt. in Palestine finally joining the R.A.O.C. in 1952, retiring in 1978 as a Lt.Col. An impressive CV!
Grouping includes Para and SAS Assoc. ties, water damaged copy of Mars and Minerva, modern SAS wings, SAS blazer badge, SAS veteran's pennant and various Association cards, diary covers etc. A copy of the eulogy delivered at his funeral in 2009 is also included.
