Paperwork grouping to 196127 F/O.Philip Gordon Boatman a Flight Engineer with 460 Sqn. Boatman started flying with 1656 HCU from Lindholme, No.1 L.F.S. at Hemswell before joining 460 Sqn. at Binbrook in October 1944. He then went on to fly 35 operations between October 44 and the end of the War including Dresden, Cologne, Dusseldorf ( ' Good prang 21 lost ' ), Essen ( 1000 A/c ) and Nuremburg. His logbook entries end in November 1945 with various flights to the Middle East and then India.
Included with the grouping are his pay and release books, various photographs taken whilst with 460, including a Squadron photo taken around ' T - Tommy ' the aircraft he flew on his 13th and 16th Op. Large number of official forms, uniform receipts, mess chits etc, along with training notebook, letters etc. Also comes with a photo album containing a record of his time in India, cap badge, engineer wing and medal ribbon. His wife's A.T.S. paybook, release book and cap badge are also included complete with the leather writing case in which the items were found. All items in good condition, usual folds tears etc to paperwork, some repair to squadron photo. Unresearched.
