Poignant Death Plaque and document grouping to a Father and Son who lost their lives in the two World Wars. Plaque and scroll to 241993 Pvt.Joseph Clough 1/5Bn East Lancs who was killed on 28/04/17 and is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial accompanied by photographs, cards and ephemera.
Collection of correspondence, photographs and ephemera to 4912802 Cpl.Harold Clough 1st Btn. South Staffs who was killed in Burma on 11/06/44 and is commemorated in the Taukkyan War Cemetery. A letter to his sister describes how he was killed in an action to take a small village before the battle for Mogaung, North Burma - ' the battalion was engaged in rather a stiff fight for a small village in which the Japanese had intended to make a stand. Your brother was seen to be hit and when his comrades reached him, life was extinct '.
Also accompanied by further family ephemera relating to the two and another family member who served in Korea. Worthy of further research. Ephemera varies between excellent to creased and torn but all items are legible.
