WW1 British Grenade Money Box.

British WW1 No.36 ' Mills ' grenade that has been turned into a money box by the simple expedient of cutting a slot in the body and not fitting the internals and mounting on a cup discharger plate. Typical use of surplus grenades at the end of the War. Body marked ' JMD & SL 1918 ' for J.M. Doughty & Sons Ltd. of London, cup discharger plate dated and faintly manufacturer marked. Base plug appears to be that commonly used on No.23 grenades. In excellent, clean condition with a good proportion of original lacquer finish.
