Normandy WIA Grouping - Monmouth, Recce, HLI & Camerons.

Medal and ephemera grouping to 4079665 Pte.William James Lewis who served in the Monmouths, Recce Corps, HLI and the Cameron Highlanders. It was with the Camerons that Lewis was wounded , probably with the 5th Btn on the opening day of the Goodwood operation on the 18th of July. Lewis suffered a gunshot wound to the buttock and leg causing a fracture of the femur and nerve damage. He was discharged in September 1945 as unfit and died at the early age of 48 in 1957. Various paperwork including original notification of wounds, paybook, recorde of service etc. Original medal box and slip with 39-45, Africa, Italy, France & Germany, War and Defence medals. Accompanied by some research but would definitely reward further work. Paperwork inc. paybook has seen some old sellotape repair.
