WW1 Silver Vesta - Henry Maitland Wilson.
Silver Vesta case by Asprey hallmarked Birmingham 1916 with sprung hinge enclosing three compartments engraved ' HMW from FWR 48th Brigade, France 1916 '. Coming from the estate of Henry Maitland Wilson who was to become Field Marshall Lord Wilson of Libya, Wilson served in France from 1914 being appointed Brigade Major of the 48th Brigade in the 16th Irish Division. Saw action on the Somme and Passchendale being awardeda DSO in 1917 and three MiDs. This case was carried throughout his military career and is in good, used condition with minor dents and marks.
