WW1 12th Lancers Officer's Uniform grouping.
Two WW1 dated tunics to Capt .William Benham Bell, 12th Royal Lancers. First tunic is a shoulder rank service dress tunic with a tailor's label for ' Henry Coalett, Hanover Sq ' with Bell's name and a date for May 1917. Ribbons for Mons Star, War and Victory Medal to the right breast and a blue ribbon to the left, which is believed to be a life saving award. Major's crowns to eppaulettes with gilt and silver collar badges to both collars and a bullion wound stripe to left sleeve. In excellent condition through out with two contemporary repairs to the reverse.
Second ' Blues ' tunic with a ' Hamburger, Rogers & Co. ' tailor's label and a date 14.2.17. Major's crowns to both eppaulettes with evidence of previous Captain's rank and staff patches to collars. Mons Star ribbon to r/h breast and blue ribbon to l/h breast, silk lining to interior. In generally good condition with some moth damage to r/h bellows pocket and bottom edge, one button missing to l/h cuff.
Comes with medal index copy. Further research highly recommended to a Cavalry officer who was with the BEF and was wounded at sometime during the war.
