US WW2 Converter M-209 cipher machine.

A rare opportunity to acquire a mint example of a US M-209 Converter with it's special pouch and all of the accessories including spare tapes, manual, message clips, ink containers, scewdriver and tweezers . The M-209 was a hand operated machine for converting individual letters into or from a cipher using a daily setting. Thus it was possible to encode or decipher a message prior to or when in receipt of a radio message. Whilst operating on broadly similar lines to German Enigma machines the similarity stopped there with the messages encoded on the M-209 being easily deciphered. OSS operatives used them to send misleading information intended for enemy interception. This example in mint condition.
