WW2 2nd North Staffs BD blouse.

1943 dated BD blouse for a Sergeant in 2nd N Staffs in 2 Inf Bde 1 Infantry Div. Featuring embroidered combination badges, shoulder titles and rank to the sleeves of a Canadian blouse made by J.Elkin & Co. and named to a ' Cpl.Hill 636 ' to inner pocket. Typical of the practice by British soldiers of upgrading their BD blouses to those of Canadian or US manufacture, this particular example has been tailored with added darts to the reverse. Black lanyard to left shoulder. In excellent moth free condition with a 20mm loosening of seam to r/h sleeve.
The 2nd N.Staffs formed part of 1st Division, it sailed to North Africa and took part in the Tunisian Campaign. The battalion did not participate in the invasion of Sicily or the initial invasion of Italy but was one of the lead units for the Anzio landings and continued to serve in Italy until January 1945.
