SMALL WW1 PERIOD 'TRENCH BUGLE' ?

Bought with other personal pieces from WW1. This is a super little brass bugle, which I was told was carried by this Officer and used in the trenches. No markings anywhere, but it's a cute small size, about half the size of a normal bugle. Looks to be a WW1 period hunting horn possibly, but a nice piece of memorabilia. (medal not included, size comparison!)
