OSS Detachment 101 Burma Campaign Bar.
Originally designated U.S. Experimental Station, Detachment 101, OSS, and activated in September of 1942, the organization was formed to conduct intelligence and paramilitary operations in China with many of the operations taking place in Burma. The Campaign Bars—awarded to Kachins who had distinguished themselves in combat—were manufactured in reasonable numbers, allowing many of the American 101 personnel to acquire one, however, it remains a scarce item. This original example, marked 'sterling' to the reverse, is in excellent condition, pleasingly patinated overall with minor edge knocks and scratches.
