1918 Pattern RAF SD Tunic and ephemera.

1918 Pattern RAF khaki, four pocket service dress tunic worn by 2nd Lt.W.Whitehead with accompanying ephemera including pictures showing the tunic in wear. Whitehead was a Canadian who served with the RFC, RAF and then subsequently served with the US Civil Air Patrol during WW2. The tunic has suffered heavily from the attentions of moths but sports an impressive pair of private purchase pilots wings surmounting medal ribbons showing WW1 service. To the cuff is a single, early pattern rank lace and gilt metal eagle and tunic retains all early pattern, gilt rope pattern tunic buttons. Accompanying the tunic are a number of photographs showing Whitehead in this tunic, flying kit, aircraft, crashes and then WW2 service. A letter endorses him as an excellent fighter pilot flying Sopwith Camels. Interesting grouping priced to reflect the condition of the tunic.
