R.A.F. Memorial Scroll and Portrait.

Original R.A.F. Memorial Scroll to Sergeant Reginald Herbert William Thompson RAFVR (1385570), son of Herbert Stanley and Kate (Kitty) Emma Thompson of Pinner, Middlesex, who flew as an aircrew Observer with 44 (Rhodesia) Squadron Bomber Command. Thompson was listed as MIA along with the rest of the crew of Lancaster I, R5740 KM-0 that was lost on the night of 25/06/1943 in an attack against oil plants at Gelsenkirchen in the Ruhr Valley. He is commemorated on the Runnymede Memorial. Accompanying the scroll is a studio portrait of Thompson in war service dress blouse and sidecap. Mounted on board approx. 25 x 35cms with some foxing. Poignant grouping.
