RAF Officers Prewar full dress busby.
Royal Air Force Officer's Interwar Period Full Dress Busby. Introduced in June 1921 under AMWO 551 it was comprised of a cork skull cap covered in black leather and trimmed with seal dyed nutria. With plaited gold/blue lace cord around the front/sides and central silver and gilt RAF badge completed by red silk lining to the interior. With inner white leather headband and black patent leather chin strap, size 7 1/8 and retaining the original dyed ostrich feather plume. Crown mounted with a gold and blue bullion woven adornment. The busby has very minor marking and a little rubbing of the fur in places with light wear to lining. Excellent plume. A good, used example of this uncommon item of ceremonial headwear.
