37 Pattern Battledress Trousers - AV Treated.
1941 dated British 37 Pattern Battledress Trousers with top buttoned belt loops & buttoned fastening tabs to ankles retaining all brass button fastenings. Whilst label is now missing, inspection stamps indicate manufacture in 1941 and the application of anti -vesicant ' impregnite ' . This was frequently based on substances like F. A. T., a specialized chemical paste applied to the fibers to neutralize liquid blister agents like mustard gas. This resulted in an oily or stiff feel to the material and accounts for the white, chalky residue on the fabric.
Approx. Size 13 - 34" waist, 33" inside leg. Excellent condition with a small smattering of moth damage to crotch/inside leg area ( approx. six holes, largest 3mm ).
