Casualty Wehrpass Grouping.

Wehrpass to Uffz.Kurt Grabars of 4.Komp.Wach-Btl.117. Judging from Grabars' photograph he appears to have been severely challenged in the eyesight department and probably explains why he was serving with a Wacht Battalion. Wacht battalions were primarily used for security tasks in occupied territories, guarding prisoner-of-war camps, protecting railways, or securing specific installations/objects. Nevertheless Grabbers served in the West in 1940 before service in the East where the met his demise in December 1943. Grouping is accompanied by his civilian and military driving licence and some paperwork including, poignantly the letter to his mother informing her of his death. Would reward further research.
