WW1 Commission MC and 2 Bars Ephemera grouping.

Interesting ephemera grouping to Lt.William Gunn Mackay who joined the RFA having been in the Navy as an engineer. Temporary Commission awarded in 1914 with certificates from Rawlinson listing his MC and second bar accompanied by various letters, marriage certificate and programme and order of service for Wick war memorial. He was awarded his first MC for conspicuous gallantry and his bar awarded for an action where he engaged the enemy over open sights from a range of 300yds whilst under mg fire. His second bar was again awarded for conspicuous gallantry having been gassed. He was also MiD three times and wounded on four occasions going onto be awarded an OBE inter-war and then saw service as a Lt.Col during WW2 where he once again received an MiD. Accompanied by some research but would make a handsome research project of a very gallant officer.
