WW1 British Hand Grenade No.34 Mk.III.
A good, 1917 dated British hand grenade No.34 Mk.III. The No.34 Hand Grenade was developed to counter the introduction of the German Model 1917 Eierhandgranate and ran to five marques, this being a MkIII. Using a percussion actuated delay fuze which requires the pin to be removed and the plunger hit against a suitably hard object. The plunger cuts a shear wire and fires a primer cap, which ignites the delay which burns down to a detonator. This example in good, used condition and is strippable. Residual lacquer with possible replacement filling plug..
