WW2 German Casualty grouping.

Casualty grouping to Grenadier Roman Leporowski of I.Kompanie Grenadier-Regt. 554 who was killed on 20/121942 and was buried near Saky in the Crimea. Leporowski was originally from Poznan in Poland and included in this group is his ' Ausweis der Deutschen Volksliste ' which shows the recipient was on the Deutsche Volksliste (German People's List) which was a Nazi institution whose purpose was the classification of inhabitants of German-occupied territories -- in this case, Poland -- into categories of desirability according to criteria systematized by Heinrich Himmler. ' Ethnic Germans ', or Volksdeutsche who were not citizens of the Reich but could claim to have German ancestry. As such the pass is countersigned by an SS Hauptsturmfuhrer.
Group includes the memorial certificate, Ausweis and correspondence expressing condolence and a list of personal effects that were returned to his mother. All correspondence comes with translations.
Interesting grouping which would merit further research to a casualty of the Krim campaign.
