WW1 Casualty ephemera group.
Emotive ephemera grouping to a casualty 6355 Pte.Robert ( Bob ).S.White, B Company, 1st Battalion The Queen's ( Royal West Surrey ) Rgt. Consists of letters from Bob to his parents in which he describes the ' terrible time ' he endured around Neuve Chapelle in May 1915 in a detailed and long letter. Another letter apologises for causing alarm at his previous letter. Two typed letters informing his mother of his death on Thursday August 19th 1915 accompany the grouping. The letters from the CSM and Battalion commander tell of White's death of wounds sustained by a shell burst when part of a trench working party at Givenchy. Another hand written letter is included from a friend and another from a vicar from Canning Town. Accompanying the group are White's Army certificates of education, shooting book and some YMCA correspondence.
