AN AMAZING AND HISTORICAL LUFTWAFFE BELT DETAILING SERVICE IN THE 8th ARMY.
Quite something else!! This is a Luftwaffe belt and buckle, captured by a British soldier in the 8th Army, who has then carved into the leather all the places he has been or seen action. The belt itself is prolifically marked on the reverse with LBA stamp and maker mark and dated 1935. It also has company issue details stamped along the length L I E Komp. The Luftwaffe buckle is aluminium and marked inside BG or GB. The brown leather tongue is maker marked and dated 1939. All the exciting stuff is on the full length of the obverse! There are about 12 locations places/countries where this solder was. Sicily/Ireland/Tripoli/Libya/Egypt etc etc. At one end, nearest the buckle, he has carved ‘8th Army’ along with the 8th Army shield.
This really is a piece of history and someone cleverer than me, with more time, could trace the regiment involved here with all the different entries so prominent on the belt.
