GSM Medal & Diary Grouping Ox & Bucks 6th Airborne.

Late War/ Palestine medal and diary grouping to 14835076 Pte.R.P.Towse 2nd Btn Ox & Bucks Light Infantry, 6th Air Landing Brigade, 6th Airborne Division. Typical late war medal grouping of France & Germany Star, War Medal and GSM bar Palestine 1945-48 mounted for wear and contained in fitted case.
The most unusual, scarce and interesting item is the diary/journal written in pencil in a school exercise type book. Starting in Aug 1944 with Towse's initial training and going through deployment to 21st Army Group in March 1945 where he describes the crossing of the Rhine and the subsequent collapse of the Reich. Returns to UK with subsequent glider training and then deployment to Palestine in October 1945. Extensive coverage of anti-terrorist operations including being under fire with various names of officers and comrades throughout. Page long description of the King David Hotel incident alongside more mundane descriptions of football matches and guard duties. Describes coming under fire from an orange grove whereupon fire was returned along with support fire from an armoured car. A subsequent search of the grove the next day revealed blood stains. Unusual and scarce.
