A MOST INTERESTING GERMAN FAMILY PLAQUE STOLEN FROM A HOUSE IN WW2.
This metal plaque was part of a small batch of WW2 souvenirs bought into an antique shop on the South coast. It’s literally been pulled off the wall as you can see where the screws or nails were top and bottom. Seems to be the family crest for the ‘RAVEN’ family and from the EINBECK area in old Germany. There is a date of 1349 so this family have been around for 675 years!! A beautifully painted shield which features two prominent swastika designs. Whether these are from the Third Reich period, or much earlier, as this is a very old symbol, I don’t know. A great display piece nonetheless and I am sure worthy of further research on the family and area.
