Uncommon WW2 memorial scroll to Major V.D.J.Saxon RASC who died on 24.03.1941 and is buried in Ismailia Cemetery, Egypt. Saxon was possibly a casualty of the opening of Operation Sonnenblume where Rommel pushed British forces back to the Egyptian border having bypassed Tobruk. WW2 memorial scrolls are uncommon in comparison with their WW1 predecessors because they were paid for by their relatives.
