A good example of the WW2 British MkIII ' Turtle ' style helmet. Manufactured in manganese steel with a distinctive shape introduced to provide better protection than the previous MkII. Its first widespread distribution occurred in 1944 to the British and Canadian troops preparing for the Normandy landing. Finished in rough textured khaki paint the shell partially marked ' BMB ' indicating manufacture by Briggs Motor Bodies and again partially marked with date ' 44 ' . Good, clean example.
