Prussian Infantry Regt.157 Ersatz Pickelhaube.

An excellent example of the felt ersatz picklehaube unit marked to J.R.157. Typical simplified ersatz form with felt body omitting the brass front visor trim & rear spine. Bright gilt Prussian plate retained by leather strips with an undamaged felt body which retains its original shape. Retains both cockades with chinstrap that has a number of old stitched repairs. Liner is present but has suffered some loss with impressed Berlin manufacturers' details. Rear peak has ink stamped BA issue mark with a possible 1914 date and a clear ' J.R.157 ' unit ink stamp.
Despite the small areas of damage this is one of the better examples I have seen.
