WW2 W.R.N.S Ratings Cap.

An original WW2 Women's Royal Naval Service Ratings cap. Introduced in mid-1942, this pattern of cap and saw widespread issue throughout the rest of the war replacing the earlier floppy pattern cap. Modelled on the men's ratings hat but differing in not having a stiffened crown. Wool body with oil cloth lining and leather headband impressed ' James Forsyth ( St Albans ) Ltd., 1943 '. In good, used condition with some fraying to silk ' HMS ' ribbon.
