1915 German Entrenching Tool & Carrier.
Entrenching Tool is the classic M1898/09 type with the very discernible pattern specific riveted "turn-backs" to the top blade rim. Blade which has some pitting, is clearly dated 1915 and double manufacturer marked ' Leckmann '. Interestingly the haft is also dated and has been shaped, presumably to aid grip, and also decorated with a series of dots and dashes. The blade shows clear signs of sharpening. The carrier is the M1909 type in brown leather, this remaining in original un-blackened state with manufacturer details ' Josef Hochstein, Herdecke ' stamped to strap. Carrier in sound condition with one belt loop potentially loose but still attached by all of its stitching. Characterful, original example.
