RAF No 12 Bomber Squadron Badge.
C1940s gilt and enamel lapel badge by H.W.Miller depicting a fox's mask and motto ' Leads The Field '. In excellent, bright condition.
12 Squadron was formed in 1915 flying extensively over the Western Front. During the opening weeks of WW2, operating Fairey Battles, 12 Sqn was tasked with the destruction of bridges over the Albert Canal. During these suicidal missions VCs were won by F/O. Garland and Sgt.Grey. Re-equipping with Wellingtons the sqn. moved first to Binbrook and then to RAF Wickenby where it operated Lancasters.
