Chindit shoulder patch.
Good embroidered example of the badge worn by the 77th Indian Brigade and later the 3rd Indian Division - The Chindits. Formed by Orde Wingate in 1942 and fought extensively throughout Burma, often behind Japanese lines.
The name Chindits is a corruption of the word \' Chinthe \' which is the lion-headed pagoda guardian seen throughout Burma and represented by the patch.
Classic, worn example with some mothing and safety pin fastening to the reverse.
